Access 2016 database starts to "jump" several times a day

My database will begin to "jump" around like something is updating in the background. This happens whether I'm using the data or not. If I'm working in another program it sometimes will take control of the mouse cursor. Any idea what might be causing this? This was happening before I installed Total Analyzer but I can't figure it out.

  it's like the form is refreshing several times in a row. it actually doesn't allow me to do anything else while it's happening. It lasts a few seconds. it happens whether I'm in it or not.
