Background
Total Access Admin is an administrator tool to help you monitor the users going in and out of your Microsoft Access databases (ACCDB and MDB formats).
Problem
The Total Access Admin fails to run with this error: “Cannot open the database. The Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed”.
Solution
Total Access Admin requires a supporting version of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Access Runtime, or the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable to be installed in order to work.
With Access installed, this error should not occur. However, we have seen this error when Microsoft Access is installed from the download from Office 365. You can check to see which version of Access you have under the Microsoft Access, About Details (under File, Help). If it states "Microsoft Office 365", then it means Microsoft Access was downloaded from an Office 365 subscription. That version of Microsoft Access is slightly different from the standard installation of Access.
Fortunately, there’s a simple solution, install the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable. You can download it from here. Once installed, Total Access Admin will successfully load and run.
