Background

Total Access Memo lets you add rich text format (RTF) memos to Microsoft Access with sophisticated editing and spell checking.

Problem

With Total Access Memo, using the control on a sub form: Give the ActiveX control focus and I can't type in any other text field on my main or other subforms. 

Solution

There is a known issue with ActiveX controls when applied or used on a sub form in Microsoft Access.  When an ActiveX control is used on a sub form, if focus is given to another form (this could be either a sub form or a parent form), there are errors that occur.  The most consistent of these errors is that you cannot type any values into a text field after using an ActiveX control on a sub form.  Also, the OnFocus / OnLostFocus events for the ActiveX control are not always trapped by Access.  This is a result of the functionality of Microsoft Access in terms of the way that it interacts with 3rd party ActiveX controls like Total Access Memo.

The above article applies to Access 2000 and higher and is a demonstration of this concept with the Treeview ActiveX control (which encounters the same symtoms).
